SUMMARY:(C6.1) Foam without Flames – Part 1 – Thermal Bridging
DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development \nFoam without Flames – Part 1 – Thermal Bridging\nT02-07-3230 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nReducing thermal bridging is one of the keys to reducing energy waste in buildings and\, to that end\, the prescriptive energy code contains requirements for continuous insulation for roofs\, above-and below-grade walls\, and mass floors. This program will provide an overview of the thermal envelope requirements in the ECCCNYS [CE] and NYStretch [CE] as they relate to continuous insulation. This will be followed by a discussion the types of construction as categorized by the Building Code of New York State (Types I\, II\, III\, IV\, V) and associated fire-resistance rating requirements and fire separation distance requirements\, and NFPA 285 test for vertical and lateral flame spread as they relate to exterior foam applications. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\n1. Understand the impact of thermal bridging on building energy performance\n2. Describe the prescriptive requirements in the commercial IECC for continuous insulation\n3. Determine fire-resistance rating and fire separation distance requirements in the context of using continuous insulation\n4. Locate third-party testing documentation related to product testing for flame spread \n
