SUMMARY:(R5.1) The Energy Code and Existing Buildings (Residential) - Part 1 (NYSERDA Energy Code Training)
DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development \nResidential – The Energy Code and Existing Buildings – Part 1\nT02-07-3138 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nThis course will provide a review of IECC Chapter 5 [RE] provisions with an emphasis on situations where work performed on existing buildings requires them to meet the energy code like new construction. This includes additions\, new thermal envelope assemblies built as part of an alteration\, window replacements\, new heating\, cooling and duct systems\, new service hot water systems\, new lighting where 50 percent or more of the luminaires are replaced\, changes from unconditioned to conditioned space\, and commercial spaces converted to dwelling units. The course will provide numerous examples and ask attendees to identify the energy code requirements for each scenario. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES\n-Determine when construction in existing buildings needs to meet the energy code like new construction\n-Determine situations where exceptions apply\n-Utilize REScheck to document\, determine\, and document exceptions\n-Understand various prescriptive energy code requirements for existing building projects requiring compliance\, like new construction

SUMMARY:Energy Modeling for Commercial Compliance Pathways (Part 1)
DESCRIPTION:Make sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nThis is Part 1 of a 4 Part presentation. Viewing all parts is required to receive credit. \nIf requesting BPI\, AIA\, CSL\, or MA Code Official CEUs\, a corresponding ID number must be provided.\nCEU’s: 2 CSL (Topic – Energy)\, 2 AIA\, 2 BPI\, 2 Code Official \nCourse Description:\nUnder the new Massachusetts Stretch Code\, 225 CMR 23\, new commercial buildings over 20\,000 square feet must use a performance path for compliance. This two-part training series focuses on the two most common performance-based compliance options\, Targeted Performance and Relative Performance. The Targeted Performance path requires projects to use energy modeling to demonstrate compliance with the heating and cooling Thermal Energy Demand Intensity (TEDI) targets. The Relative Performance path is based on ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G Performance Rating Method with Massachusetts amendments. This training will cover the energy modeling requirements of both compliance options in detail including covering special rules for retrofits\, additions\, and core-and-shell projects. The training will also provide a high-level refresher of specific topics covered in the 4-hour MA Stretch 2023 targeted and relative performance path training including requirements other than energy modeling that projects must meet and the documentation that must be submitted to code officials. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Understand the modeling requirements associated with the Targeted Performance Path and the Relative Performance Path for MA Commercial Stretch Energy Code compliance.\n2. Comprehend the modeling requirements for special cases including core-and-shell projects and first-time tenant fit outs.\n3. Develop a high-level\, basic understanding of MA Stretch 2023 mandatory requirements and the types of 90.1 mandatory requirements that projects are required to comply with.
