SUMMARY:R-NY-3 Mechanical Systems Made Simple: HVAC Requirements in the 2025 ECCCNYS - PART 2
DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION: \nThis course will examine the requirements for mechanical systems in Section R403 of the 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State. Part 2 will cover the Manual S requirements outlined in Section R403.7 of the 2025 ECCNYS\, explaining how following Manual S can both reduce energy bills and enhance comfort. According to a 2015-16 study on single-family residential homes\, only 14% of homes meet the code requirement of designing mechanical equipment based on ACCA Manual S and Manual J. The discussion will include the ACCA design process\, as well as the Manual J load calculation process and modeling\, which is the first step in sizing equipment properly. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \n1. Be able to explain why proper sizing of mechanical systems is important. \n2. Compare and contrast Manuals J\, S\, and D reports \n3. Identify common errors when reviewing manual J\, S\, and D reports \n4. Calculate the minimum required flow rates for whole home balanced mechanical ventilation \nIf you do not receive your registration confirmation email and access link\, send an email to psdtraininghelpny@psdconsulting.com
