SUMMARY:R-NY-2 Tight Homes\, Bright Futures: Bringing Comfort to Building Thermal Envelopes Part 2
DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION:\nThis course will take a deep dive into the requirements for the building thermal envelope in Section R402 of the 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State. Part 2 will focus on air barrier\, air sealing\, and insulation installation criteria requirements in Table R402.5.1.1 and the air leakage testing requirements\, including highlighting the importance of air leakage testing\, best practices\, understanding blower door testing\, and new guidance related to unit sampling. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES:\n1. Describe the benefits of air barriers and air sealing the thermal envelope\n2. Distinguish major changes for prescriptive insulation requirements between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS\n3. Apply best practices for air sealing using Table R402.5.1.1\n4. Describe what a blower door test is and what results show\n5. Determine the minimum air leakage rate for New York’s climate zones\n6. Learn to convert Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) into Air Changes per Hour (ACH50)\n7. Determine when unit sampling is allowed for air infiltration testing

SUMMARY:R-NY-3 Mechanical Systems Made Simple: HVAC Requirements in the 2025 ECCCNYS - PART 1
DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION: \nThis course will examine the requirements for mechanical systems in Section R403 of the 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State. Part 1 will focus on the changes between the 2020 ECCCNYS and 2025 ECCCNYS\, as well as the updates to the requirements for duct leakage and ventilation system testing and unit sampling\, new requirements for mechanical systems located outside the building thermal envelope and fireplaces. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \n1. Analyze differences between the 2020 and 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS) concerning mechanical systems requirements in Section R403. \n2. Examine the updated protocols for duct leakage and ventilation. \n3. Differentiate the new regulations for mechanical systems located outside the building thermal envelope and for fireplaces. \n4. Determine balanced mechanical ventilation rates (CFM) for new houses. \nIf you do not receive your registration confirmation email and access link\, send an email to psdtraininghelpny@psdconsulting.com
