DESCRIPTION:COURSE DESCRIPTION: \nThe 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (2025 ECCCNYS) has officially been adopted and is effective for new buildings starting on December 31\, 2025. This course will provide an overview of the major prescriptive changes between the residential provisions of the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS. Part 1 will review the changes in the requirements for the building thermal envelope and mechanical systems. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \n1. Determine which provisions of the 2025 ECCCNYS apply to projects following the prescriptive\, simulated building performance\, and energy rating index pathway. \n2. Point out the major differences between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS for the thermal envelope\, mechanical systems and lighting. \n3. Determine the applicable code section for each building component. \n4. Distinguish between the minimum prescriptive insulation requirements for the 2020ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS.

This course will provide an overview of the major prescriptive changes between the residential provisions of the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS. Part 2 will cover lighting\, and Section R408\, which addresses additional efficiency requirements and has been added to reflect a new point-based credit system\, requiring buildings following the prescriptive path to earn a minimum number of credits to demonstrate compliance. It will also explore the available credit options in this section as well as how to apply these credits to residential building projects. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \n1. Use Table R408.2 to determine the number of credits available for different additional efficiency measures. \n2. Determine the number of credits required for compliance with Section R408 for different building types. \n3. List the options that are available to earn credit from Section R408. \n4. Analyze Section R408 changes between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS.
