DESCRIPTION:Make sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nPlease be advised that GoToWebinar is only compatible with the browsers Firefox and Chrome. \nIf requesting BPI\, AIA\, CSL\, or MA Code Official CEUs\, a corresponding ID number must be provided.\nCEU’s: 1 CSL (Topic – Energy)\, 1 AIA\, 1 BPI\, 1 Code Official\, 1 RESNET PDH \nPart 3:\nAccording to a 2015-16 study on single-family residential homes\, over 90% of all homes studied had all or portion of duct systems in unconditioned space which means all these homes would require duct testing and portions outside conditioned space should be insulated. This course discusses code requirements for duct testing\, prescriptive duct leakage requirements\, duct insulation and sealing requirements. With a discussion on best practices in duct insulation\, the presenter will discuss Manual D which is a process to design duct systems and required by code.

SUMMARY:(R7.1) Put a Lid On It Part 1: Unvented Attics (NYSERDA Energy Code Training)
DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development \nR7.1 – Put a Lid On It Part 1 – Unvented Attics\nT02-07-3192 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nBringing attic and crawl spaces inside the thermal envelope is a great way to simultaneously improve energy efficiency and moisture management. One of the main ways unvented attics and crawl spaces reduce energy waste is by bringing ducts and air handlers inside (which is a requirement of NYStretch and the NYCECC). This can also be cost-effective for builders as they eliminate the requirement for duct testing. But there are risks associated with installing these assemblies improperly\, so it is important to meet all related requirements in the RCNYS. For unvented attics\, these include a minimum R-value of air impermeable insulation or above-roof deck insulation and proper installation and location of vapor retarders. For unvented crawl spaces\, builders must take care to install vapor barriers over exposed earth and provide a means of evacuating moisture. For both strategies\, the use of spray foam also brings in fire safety requirements from the RCNYS for thermal or ignition barriers. This course will provide a review of the benefits of unvented attics and crawl spaces\, related building science concepts\, and energy and residential code requirements. \nLearning Objectives:\n1- Describe the energy efficiency benefits of unvented attics and crawl spaces\n2- Describe durability benefits of unvented attics and crawl spaces\n3- Understand energy code requirements related to these assemblies

SUMMARY:C7.1 - Building Systems Commissioning: Saving Money and Meeting Code
DESCRIPTION:Make sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nPlease be advised that GoToWebinar is only compatible with the browsers Firefox and Chrome. \nIf requesting BPI\, AIA\, CSL\, or MA Code Official CEUs\, a corresponding ID number must be provided.\nCEU’s: 1 CSL (Code Review)\, 1 AIA\, 1 BPI\, 1 Code Official \nCommercial Webinar – Building Systems Commissioning: Saving Money and Meeting Code \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nBuilding commissioning reduces energy bills\, improves comfort\, reduces CO2 and other emissions\, and… it is the law. According to data from US Energy Information Administration (EIA)\, in 2018 commercial buildings accounted for over 18% of the energy consumed in the US\, with over half that energy dedicated to heating\, cooling\, and lighting. While most building owners and builders understand the importance of high-efficacy lighting and efficient HVAC systems\, the importance of building system commissioning is less widely appreciated. Studies have shown that the operating efficiency of commercial buildings improves by as much as 13% with commissioning.\nThis course will provide an overview of mechanical systems and lighting commissioning including the benefits to building owners and occupants\, the general commissioning process\, and a review of energy code requirements and associated documentation. The course will also identify the roles that building owners\, builders\, code officials\, and commissioning agents play in the commissioning process and highlight relevant industry standards and certifications. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES:\nAttendees will be able to…\n1. Describe the code requirements for building systems commissioning.\n2. Understand the different phases of the commissioning process.\n3. Identify the roles of building owners\, commissioning providers\, builders\, and building code officials.\n4. Provide and review the required commissioning documentation.
