PSD has been hired by DNREC’s Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy to implement the Delaware energy conservation codes transition training.

Delaware has adopted national and international energy conservation standards to guide statewide rules and regulations for the building sector. DNREC’s Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy issues and regularly updates regulations based on these standards, which come from the International Code Council (ICC) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Delaware transitioned to new energy conservation codes in 2020. To support transition to the new codes, DNREC has prepared training opportunities to assist Delaware’s construction industry and local government code enforcement officials.

The training, conducted by Performance Systems Development, will cover the changes in the new residential and commercial energy conservation codes and answer questions stakeholders have identified as they began using the new codes. Training sessions are virtual and last about 3 hours.

Additional meetings with stakeholders, technical support, and training opportunities will occur in stages during 2021.
