Performance Systems Development (PSD) was recently re-awarded the next Phase of Act 129 with FirstEnergy Corp to implement FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania Utilities Energy Efficient New Homes Program. The Act 129 customer incentive program helps eligible builders save energy and money with the construction of energy-efficient single-family and multi-family homes in Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, and West Penn Power service territories.

FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania Utilities Energy Efficient New Homes Program offers a minimum of 30¢ per kWh saved for homes that meet energy efficiency requirements. To qualify for incentives, homes must meet comprehensive third-party verification standards for energy efficiency. This verification ensures each home will enhance comfort, improve energy performance, and provide financial savings.

All participating builders are eligible for incentives on smart thermostats, with additional incentives available for builders who comply with ENERGY STAR® V3.1 certification requirements or who build housing for low-income residents. A maximum incentive of $2,500 per unit is available for single-family detached homes, and low-income homes of all unit types. The maximum incentive is set at $1,500 for townhouses and duplexes, $1,000 per unit for two-on-two condos, and $1,000 per unit for multi-family apartment buildings with greater than five units.

“PSD is excited to continue as the implementor of FirstEnergy’s Pennsylvania Utilities Energy Efficient New Homes Program,” said John Davis, PSD’s Director of Business Development. “We look forward to expanding the presence of the program and improving energy savings for new homebuyers in Pennsylvania.”

PSD will continue working with over 60 participating builders to support the construction of the highest-quality, most energy-efficient homes for homebuyers across the state.
