Nina Piccoli – VP of Product Delivery

1. Where did you grow up? Where do you reside now?

I grew up in New Paltz, NY in the mid-Hudson Valley, and now live in Ithaca, NY. I love college towns with lots of opportunities for outdoor activities.

2. What did you want to be when you grew up (when you were a child)?

In my highly realistic vision of the future, I wanted to be a time-traveling paleontologist and study dinosaurs in their natural habitat.

3. What guided you into the energy efficiency industry?

One of my earlier jobs after college was working for an environmental non-profit. From there, I transitioned into software development. PSD allows me to apply my technical expertise to make a positive impact on the future of our planet.

4. What does a day in Nina’s life at PSD look like?

I work with our fantastic software team to develop and implement various software tools for both the PSD Program Services team and external clients. This means keeping a high-level view on dozens of simultaneous projects and working with Program Services and Energy Engineering Services to ensure that our technical product development keeps pace with program delivery needs and building science technology.

5. Our company has five core values (Integrity, Passion, Collaboration, Vision, and Making an Impact). Which of these values resonates most with you and the work you do at PSD?

In my role, I get to be involved with many projects that bring together people from all different areas of PSD. I love the energy that comes out of collaboration between people with different experiences and skill sets.

6. What is your favorite PSD-related memory?

PSD’s 25th Anniversary gathering was an amazing experience. We brought together almost the entire company to share perspectives, PSD history, and plans for the future, and we got to know our teammates better in the process.

7. What do you do when you aren’t at work? Do you have any interesting hobbies?

I’m a trail runner and hiker, and the Ithaca area is a fantastic place to be outdoors.

8. Do you have any pets?

I don’t currently, but I miss having a dog, so this might change in the next few months!

9. What is your favorite holiday?

Every December, Ithaca has a small local festival called the Rutabaga Curl that brings people together at the Farmers Market for a chilly and very silly celebration of the end of the growing season.

10. Favorite travel destination? Or dream travel destination?

Norway is high on my list. I went with my husband and mother years back and loved everything about it – the views, the food, all the opportunities to spend time outdoors.

11. Favorite musician/genre?

Anything live! I didn’t own any recorded music until I was in my 20s, and I still vastly prefer live shows.

12. What’s the top item that is still on your bucket list? Have you checked anything cool or fun off?

I love traveling and exploring anywhere I can spend time outdoors. My favorite destinations always have both ocean access and mountains. I’d love to visit the Azores, which have a stunning combination of coastline and mountains.

13. What is an interesting thing about yourself that not a lot of people know?

I did high school theater, and during college moved to stage management. I then briefly was executive director of a local theater company. I’ve always enjoyed balancing the technical and creative sides of my brain.

Thank you, Nina! We appreciate you taking the time to do this and are excited to have people get to know a little more about our employees here at PSD.
