C-NY-1 Cracking the Code: Commercial Updates to the 2025 ECCCNYS Part 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (2025 ECCCNYS) has been adopted and is effective for new buildings starting on December 31, 2025. This course will provide an overview of the major changes between the commercial provisions of the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS. Part 1 will look at the changes in the requirements for the building thermal envelope, mechanical systems, and more, highlighting the major changes from the code update.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Determine which provisions of the 2025 ECCCNYS apply to projects following the prescriptive and simulated building performance pathways.

2. Recognize the major differences between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS for the thermal envelope, mechanical systems and lighting.

3. Examine which code section is applicable for different building components.

4. Compare the minimum prescriptive insulation requirements for the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS.
