R-NY-5 The Performance Edge: Smarter Paths to Code Compliance Part 2

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Performance-based approaches to the energy codes result in higher rates of compliance when compared to traditional prescriptive methods. This course will take a deep dive into the performance-based compliance options of the 2025 Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State. Part 2 will review the Simulated Building Performance Path in R405 as well as the Energy Rating Index Path in Section R406 and will discuss the changes to the mandatory requirements between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS, as well as more information about how to calculate the ERI.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Apply the Energy Rating Index Path from Section R406 to assess residential building compliance with energy codes.

2. Utilize the changes between the 2020 ECCCNYS and the 2025 ECCCNYS to modify compliance strategies for residential energy performance.

3. Calculate the Energy Rating Index (ERI) for a residential building using the prescribed methodology.

4. Implement performance-based compliance techniques to enhance energy code adherence in residential construction projects.
