We’re excited to introduce a new feature to the PSD Newsletter, the Employee Spotlight! The spotlight will shine a light on members of the Performance Systems Development Team, give a glance into who they are outside of work, and highlight their valuable contributions to what makes our company great.

Our first Employee Spotlight is…

Tammy Lee – Sr. Program Coordinator

Where did you grow up?  Where do you reside now?

I was born and raised in Philadelphia, went away for college and my early career, and now am back in Philadelphia.

What did you want to be when you grew up (when you were child)?

I wanted to be a pop star.

What guided you into the energy efficiency industry?

It was a relatively straightforward path for me. My undergraduate degree is in Environmental Studies and, after college, I went through a fellowship program for urban sustainability in Pittsburgh. My position focused on corporate sustainability, which involved tracking of utility data and energy conservation communications. After that, I was hired by a nonprofit, where I worked on energy efficiency programs and not too long after that, I came to PSD.

What does a day in the life of Tammy at PSD look like?

I work on our UGI Residential Retrofit and Residential New Construction programs. My day usually involves some combination of: providing assistance to participants in the program; planning support activities like marketing initiatives and trainings; reporting on program activity and updates; and reviewing rebate submissions.

What is your favorite PSD-related memory?

My favorite PSD-related memory is an early memory when I worked with a customer, her contractor, and QA inspector to address health and safety issues in her home and approve her rebate check. I do not usually interact with customers directly in my program so it was nice to hear the difference the project made in terms of her feeling comfortable in her home as well as the financial support the rebate check provided to help her afford the improvements. It was a nice reminder of the impact programs like the one I work on make in improving people’s well-being.

What do you do when you aren’t at work?  Any interesting hobbies?

I usually spend my time weight training, listening to the radio or podcasts, singing, doodling, and admiring my plants (not necessarily taking care of them).

What is your favorite holiday?

Probably Christmas. I did not celebrate it much as a child so I use my time as an adult to really relish the giving spirit, warmth, and togetherness associated with that festive time of year.

Favorite travel destination? Or dream travel destination?

My dream travel destination is South Korea. I studied the Korean language and culture in college so it would be a great opportunity to have a first-hand experience.

Favorite musician/genre?

My favorite music genre is pop and anything pop-adjacent. I also have a soft spot for R&B, having grown up on it.

What’s the top item that is still on your bucket list? Have you checked anything cool or fun off?

A top item still on there is being interviewed by Terry Gross on NPR/WHYY’s Fresh Air program. One item I have checked off is finishing a marathon.

What is an interesting thing about yourself that not a lot of people know?

It is not scientifically proven, but I am good at tasting things, as in identifying and describing flavors. One of my favorite types of videos to watch is people taste testing foods. It is so fun and satisfying to imagine different flavor combinations. In another life, it would have been cool to be a food writer or sommelier.

Thank you to Tammy Lee for being the first person featured in our Employee Spotlight! We are happy you are on our team!
