On July 12, 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced $90 million in competitive awards to help states, cities, tribes, and partnering organizations implement updated energy code requirements for buildings. DOE awarded this funding through the Resilient and Efficient Codes Implementation Program (RECI) under The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

PSD is a part of two of the 27 project teams receiving funding. One of these awards went to the New Buildings Institute (NBI), where PSD will help create a regulatory environment that will drive zero net energy offices and facilities through use of advanced but achievable energy code updates. The other award went to Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP), where PSD will perform multiple energy code field studies in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
PSD is excited to continue supporting energy code advancement and compliance in these jurisdictions, and we look forward to continuing to increase our impact through future opportunities that will be made possible through $1 billion in Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding for energy codes. PSD encourages state energy offices and potential partners contact Mike Turns at mturns@psdconsulting.com or 484-684-5625 to discuss potential project ideas.
