The U.S. Department of Energy honored PSD with a Home Energy Score Innovation Award for our initial Standardized OpenStudio Simulation in 2022. The new OpenStudio Simulation combines cold climate air source heat pumps with exact performance features, improvements to the building envelope, and heat pump water heaters. These modifications leverage the sophisticated building and equipment physics modeling in EnergyPlus and make it easier to generate a Home Energy Score using the HPXML data standard. These methods will support load reduction and decarbonization efforts for utilities in New York State in partnership with the OpenStudio Coalition.
