On March 14, 2023, the in-person RESNET Board of Directors meeting was held in Washington, DC. PSD’s Director of New Homes, Emelie Cuppernell Glitch, personally met with the offices of Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY-24).
Emelie requested New York officials work with government organizations, including the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Energy (DOE), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS), to expedite the regulatory framework regarding the 45L tax credit.
Other priorities Emelie communicated included the enhancement of Veterans Affairs (VA) loan underwriting methods for veterans to obtain better loans based on HERS-rated savings. She encouraged them to work with the VA to ensure legislation moves forward.
Regarding the HOMES Act, Emelie called for broad-based industry participation in workforce development and residential retrofit energy efficiency upgrades.
