Although TREAT doesn’t run natively on Window 11+, you may be able to run TREAT in Compatibility Mode. Download the script below and run after TREAT has already been installed on your Window 11+ PC. The officially supported Windows Operating Systems are Windows XP, 7, 8, and Windows 10.

Instructions for Running the TREAT Compatibility Setup Script
Follow these steps to run the TREAT_Compatibility_Setup.bat script to ensure TREAT runs smoothly on your Windows 11 computer:
Step 1: Download the Necessary Files
- Download and unzip the Script: Obtain the zipped TREAT_Compatibility_Setup.bat file from the download link above and unzip.
- Download Redistributables (Optional): If required, download the following files and place them in the same directory as the script:
- vc_redist.x86.exe
- vc_redist.x64.exe
- These files can be automatically downloaded by the script if missing, provided your computer has an active internet connection.
Step 2: Verify TREAT Installation
- Ensure that TREAT is installed on your computer.
- By default, it is installed in the following location:
C:\Program Files\TREAT\TREAT.exe

- If you installed TREAT in a custom directory, take note of its location.
Step 3: Ensure You Have Administrator Privileges
The script needs elevated privileges to modify system settings and install required components.
- Right-click the TREAT_Compatibility_Setup.bat file.
- Select Run as Administrator from the menu.
- If prompted by User Account Control (UAC), click Yes to allow the script to make changes.
Step 4: Follow the On-Screen Instructions
- Compatibility Settings: The script will configure TREAT to run in compatibility mode with administrative privileges.
- .NET Framework 3.5:
- The script will check if .NET Framework 3.5 is already enabled.
- If it is not enabled, the script will attempt to enable it using Windows Update.
- If online installation fails, it will try to install .NET 3.5 from an offline source (if available).
- Visual C++ Redistributables:
- The script will check for and install the required Visual C++ Redistributable files.
- If they are not present, the script will download them automatically.
- Legacy Components:
- The script will enable legacy features like DirectPlay, if required by TREAT.
- Verification:
- The script will verify that all configurations are applied and TREAT is detected in the default installation directory.
Step 5: Handle Any Errors
- If the script encounters an issue (e.g., .NET 3.5 cannot be enabled or redistributables cannot be downloaded):
- Follow the error message instructions to resolve the issue.
- Possible solutions include:
- Connecting to the internet if downloads fail.
- Enabling .NET Framework 3.5 manually via Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features On or Off.
- Contact the TREAT support team for assistance if needed.
Step 6: Verify TREAT Compatibility
- After the script completes, open TREAT from its desktop shortcut or installation folder.
- Confirm that it runs without errors.
Additional Notes
- Internet Connection: Ensure your computer is connected to the internet during the process to allow the script to download any missing components.
- Offline Installation of .NET Framework 3.5:
- If .NET Framework 3.5 cannot be enabled online, the script will attempt offline installation using files from Windows installation media. Make sure you have the media available if needed.
- You can specify the source path in the script if required.
- Antivirus or Firewall Warnings: Your antivirus or firewall software might flag the script. Allow it to run, as it is safe and provided by the TREAT team.
